Phlebotomy
A phlebotomist is a healthcare professional who is trained to collect blood and other specimens from patients for laboratory testing. Phlebotomists work in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, blood banks, and donation centers.

The duties of a Phlebotomist may include:
- 
Identifying patients, explaining procedures, selecting and preparing the appropriate equipment for blood collection. 
- 
Collecting blood specimens by venipuncture (using a needle to puncture a vein) or fingerstick (poking the skin to obtain a small blood sample). 
- 
Labeling and appropriately storing collected specimens for transport to the laboratory. 
- 
Recording and maintaining accurate patient and specimen information. 
- 
Ensuring compliance with safety and infection control policies and procedures. 
- 
Calibrating and maintaining equipment and supplies 
- 
Processing some degree of laboratory tests and office duties​​

Certified Phlebotomist (RPT)
